Flashback to week 2 of the most recent cohort of Foundations. We’re checking in, talking about our week, recognizing Aha moments and addressing questions that have come up. I love this program in part because it’s so completely customized to each business owner.
Anyway, here we are, checking in when one of my students jumps in and says, “actually, I want to share a big win”.
Yes it’s week 2 but, you see, we don’t fuck around in Foundations. The very first week of the program, we work on your Methodology and your Ideal Client. Right after our Methodology training, this student found a new pitch opportunity.
Before getting into this program, I wouldn’t have even considered it [because it’s in a slightly different industry sector] but since I figured out my methodology, I was able to see exactly how I could support this client AND why this project was a good one for us to take on. I wrote the proposal, included my methodology and the actions we would take to get to the ideal result…and won the project!
So why am I telling you this?
Well, it’s proof that the Foundations work, works. You don’t need to wait until the lessons settle. You don’t need to pick and choose which parts of the curriculum you need. You get in, customize, ask questions, get answers, get results. FOR THE ENTIRE 7 WEEKS OF THE PROGRAM…and forever after.
But the main reason I’m telling you this is because we’re all vulnerable to the suggestions of New Year, New You no matter how much we detest it.
So here’s your friendly reminder.

Come back to yourself and your work and the unique way you do things.
This is what that student did. She came back to what she knew. She’d figured out her methodology through the program and because of that was able to recognize an aligned project, articulate both her vision and her value, connect with the clients’ needs, and showcase why she was a good service provider fit.
That’s simply the week 1 curriculum. Imagine what you would do with the entire thing (methodology, ideal client, ideal schedule, aligned services suite, brand voice, marketing strategy — plus an amazing group of people?! — whew).
